A week of strategic exchange
On May 13 - 14, Mistra gathered the Programme Directors of its ongoing research programmes for two days of knowledge exchange and forward-looking discussions at Hesselby Castle in Stockholm. Patrik Andersson, Programme Director of Mistra SafeChem, took part in the event alongside representatives from all Mistra programmes, Mistra staff and invited guests.
The agenda featured reflections on lessons learned across programmes, opportunities for joint communication efforts, and how to explore the potential of artificial intelligence within research.
– The opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences around AI – and broader programme collaboration – was both timely and inspiring. The meeting truly reflected the strength of the Mistra community and its openness to explore joint paths forward,” said Patrik Andersson, Programme Director of Mistra SafeChem.
The two-day event also offered time for informal interaction, with a group dinner, quiz, and networking activities – all contributing to a strong sense of connection among Mistra’s Programme Directors.

Patrik Andersson at the Toxicological Council in Stockholm
During the same week, Patrik Andersson also gave a presentation to the Toxicological Council in Stockholm. The Toxicological Council is organized by the Swedish Chemicals Agency and comprises representatives from Swedish authorities working in the field of chemicals regulation and several universities covering relevant scientific disciplines related to chemical risks.
– My presentation focused on Mistra SafeChem Phase 2 and the program's approach with a particular focus on chemical innovation guided by the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework. It is valuable to present to the Toxicological Council and to discuss progress in the area.
